Across the Universe

October 21, 2007

so if you haven’t seen Across the Universe… I suggest you go see it now and buy the soundtrack. It is definitely the best film I have seen in a long time. By far the best Beatles covers I have ever heard. I actually like them better than the real versions. I’ll leave you with this… Bono plays a great acid tripping hippy.

hitch hikers and coke cans

October 11, 2007

So today we got bored and Kurtis hit some cans with a baseball bat.  It was pretty hilarious.  Go watch youtube.com/chriscolemanmusic to see it.

So Kurt is and I were dropping off my girlfriend tonight at her apartment when we saw  two middle aged white adults walking on the side of the road.  When we passed they threw up their thumbs asking us for a ride.  Kurtis looked at me and we were like…why not?

So as it turns out they were 2 business partners from Cincinnati.  They went out to eat and their cab never came back.  So we gave them a lift back to their hotel.  They ended up being super awesome, aside from the fact that the dude was totally cheating on his wife.  Oh yea and the dude gave Kurtis 20 bucks.  And on top of that we got some more gangster posters.  So all together tonight was a success.

To the guy who posted that comment about my last post.

Thanks for your feedback man, I appreciate your input. I apologize if I “tore someone down” with my last post. I have just been disgusted by the recent trend of compassion for attention. I agree that the core of invisible children may have done some awesome things. However, there are plenty of facebook groups and kids selling t-shirts solely for some good ole’ fashion attention. Maybe it’s just me but that bugs the heck out of me that kids are getting rich off something pretty serious. I am not justifying my bitterness, I just want to see a change. Sorry if I hurt your feelings bro.

So on a lighter note. We are still booking winter tour like nuts. Right now it looks like we’re going to shorten our route a whole lot, but we’ll make our way to Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, Cleveland TN, Nashville TN, Birmingham AL, Columbus GA, and Augusta GA. Be looking for those dates to pop up real soon. Love you all even if I don’t always show it (;

oh yea!  and anyone who hasn’t seen our new crank that soldja boy video, you need to go check it out now!  www.youtube.com/chriscolemanmusic

ask questions…

October 8, 2007

So something has been on my mind a lot for the past few years so I’m going to write a blog about it…

I get reallllly stinkin’ tired of all kinds of new compassionate organizations popping up. Now don’t get me wrong, I am totally game for helping other people and being “mission minded”… but I can’t help but question kids intentions. (disclaimer: I’m more than likely going to piss someone off if i haven’t already. That’s not my goal… I just want people to ask questions before they spend so much money and effort backing something up).

Let’s take for instance the invisible children campaign. I think it is great that they are raising awareness of whats taking place in Uganda, but sometimes I feel like thats all they are doing. The news is out, everyone knows it sucks but what are we going do about it? I hate to be the one to break the news, but wearing a T-shirt is simply not enough. They encourage kids to get involved by writing letters to congress asking the government to get involved. Now if I were a politician a few things would run through my head while I was reading such a letter. The first thing I would take into consideration is the lack of support that we give our government for the current efforts in Iraq. The second thing I would consider is why kids think things would be any different if our government or military got involved in Africa. Oh yea, and even if there was a logical way for our government to help Uganda… at the end of the day they still aren’t hearing the gospel.

I feel like time after time kids get suckered into spending all of their money and efforts on a trend.

Anyone who wants to be a part of a Godly, mission minded, compassionate organization (it sounds more trendy if I say movement, but I refuse they’re just shoes)… buy a pair of toms shoes. That’s real

the new era of garage bands…

October 7, 2007

I love it when bands play music solely because they think it makes them cool. Their show starts the moment they get to the venue. Walking out of the van sportin’ the sunglasses and a camel light. Can you not just be a real person to people? Maybe even watch the other bands who are working just as hard as you (probably a lot harder). Reality check… your band isnt “big” and you probably aren’t as cool as you give yourself credit for. Oh yea and you’re playing at churches for like 10 kids, you might as well try and make some friends while your at it.

thats my story and im stickin’ to it

step backwards

October 3, 2007

Today  some things I’ve been struggling with have finally started to make sense.  Momentum is a funny thing… once you are moving forward with something and it picks up speed, it develops a momentum.  However it is impossible to only take one step backwards and then get on with that same forward momentum you had before.  And for me that one step backwards has turned into a year and a half of backwards sliding.  If you know anything about me you know I’m referring to my relationship with Christ.  College changes a whole lot about what you knew to be your normal life.  As soon as I got here things changed for me.  I immediately stopped spending time in the word and quickly grew out of love scripture.  I can honestly say its been a year and a half since I have even considered pursuing my relationship with Christ but starting today things are going to be different.

On a lighter note… its 1:40 am and I just got back to my room from tiffany’s.  My roommates shut my door which means the door wont open.  To make a long story short our door knob broke and now you cant shut our door all the way or you cant get in.  So I called Kurtis thinking that one of them would wake up.  I heard his phone ring and no one came to my rescue.  So 20 minutes later I used a string to break into my room.  What a night huh?

the world of blogging

October 2, 2007

So today marks a special day in the life of Christopher Coleman… I have entered into the world of “blogging.” Some may say it is because the rest of my fellow band mates have recently become “bloggers.” This will be where I talk about all the happenings of my every day life. I hope that you all with enjoy reading and being a part of my blog. Until tomorrow…
