So anyone who knows anything about me knows that I am a HUGEEEEEE fan of Keith Urban.  Well maybe you didn’t know this, but I am also a huge fan of country music.  There are a few reasons for this.

1.  I’ve been listening to nothing but pop-rock and worship music for way too long now

2.  I’ve been writing and playing rock and worship music for way too long (not that I don’t enjoy all that stuff but its really nice to get a change)

3.  It’s definitely the only good music being played on the radio.  The musicianship and song writing (in the majority of country music, minus kenny chesney djierks bentley, ect) is the absolute best out there.

So here’s the deal.  For the fourth year in a row, Keith Urban has lost entertainer of the year to Kenny Chesney.  That blows my mind.  Kenny Chesney can’t even play his stinking guitar.  He gets on there every night in a wife beater and a cowboy hat and sings stupid cheesy songs he had no part in writing.  Now how wasted do you have to be for that to be entertaining?  On the other hand, Keith Urban gets out there every night and not only shreds his guitar but puts on a great, very personal performance.  His band is stacked with some of the best musicians in country and Christian music.  Next time you hear casting crowns on the radio you can thank Chris McHugh (Keith’s drummer) for tracking their drums without any credit.   I hate how rigged these awards are.  Is America that dumb?

Sorry, but this is a huge deal to me haha

Summer Time Son!!!

May 12, 2008

Sorry for the lack of blogging, I just finally got moved back into my house.  I can tell you this, it’s the most amazing thing ever.  I’ve really missed my mom and dad, my dog, my drums, and my bed in that order.

So last night it really hit me how freagin’ lucky I am to be doing what I am doing.  It always brings me to me knees to think that every dream I’ve ever had has come true.  I wake up every Sunday and get to lead an amazing group of students into the presence of God (or at least we try hard!).  On top of that I get to lead with an amazing group of dudes and musicians.  We were playing We Shine this morning (are you surprised? we play that every Sunday and I love it!) and I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear.  It’s still just unreal to me that God has allowed me to do this.  I just want to make sure that I am taking advantage of every opportunity to minister to kids rather than just gig.

A few side notes about my life:

- we got new pictures and they rule

- I am booked every week of june now and I am SO stoked about it

- we are playing a bunch of awesome shows (Hard Rock Cafe’ and Six Flags)

- last but not least, HAIR CUTS ARE FOR SISSIES!

gnight folks!

long time no post…

May 4, 2008

So it’s been a minute or two since I’ve posted in this joker.  School has gotten nuts and I have not had as much free time is I’d like.  This week is exam week and then I will be done!  I can’t begin to describe how excited to see what God has in store for this summer.

Today was my first Sunday playing and attending Buckhead Church.  I won’t lie, it was a pretty amazing experience.  Not only was the atmosphere awesome, but the people were just as awesome.  I love hanging out and leading with new people.

We are playing the hard rock cafe’ May 23rd and Six Flags (thats right, gothem city) the 30th.  I am pretty excited about playing some shows!  I think Paul and Ike are gona be filling in on drums for a bit until we can find a permanent guy.  I’m kind of stressed about it, but I know they’ll do great.

GO BRAVES!
